At Valmet, we are now seeking an Automation Engineer for our EI&C department within Pulp, Energy and Circularity (PEC). Here, we work on designing and delivering advanced equipment to paper mills, energy producers, and other industries worldwide, including the marine sector. Our deliveries include electrification, instrumentation, and process control, and are part of Valmet's total solutions.

Responsibilities

In the role of Automation Engineer, you will manage projects from start to finish. You will be responsible for the technical solution to meet customer standards and expectations and will work with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). Other responsibilities include monitoring quality, timelines, and budget within your area. You will work closely with Valmet's project team, customers, and suppliers to coordinate engineering work and ensure a cohesive result. You will often work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Your tasks also include developing technical plans, making technical decisions, creating PLC-related documentation, and providing the purchasing department with necessary information. One of your key tools will be the customer contract, which helps you steer the project's delivery. In delivery projects for our process-specific products, you will integrate the products by defining, specifying, and implementing interfaces to OT systems (PLC-controlled machines, DCS systems).

You will work in a global environment and be responsible for the technical solutions we deliver worldwide. In this role, you will collaborate closely with both internal teams and other units within Valmet's organization, which involves many international contacts. The position is permanent and located in Sundsvall.

Qualifications

We are looking for both junior and more experienced individuals who are eager to grow and develop together with Valmet. Since the area of expertise is extensive, you need to have an interest and ability to learn more, but also be able to accept your limitations and find answers elsewhere.

To succeed in this role, you need:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field
• Experience with OT systems (preferably Siemens and/or Rockwell) and PLC programming
• Proactive, good communication skills, and the ability to collaborate in a multifunctional design team
• The ability to prioritize, work independently, and make well-informed decisions
• High accuracy and attention to detail
• Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Open to travel as needed
